Joe Amarante / Hearst Connecticut MediaOfficials of New Haven's International Festival of Arts & Ideas announced its 2019 lineup for the two-calendar week June event at a big gathering of fans and supporters from the city, Yale and surrounding customs at Gateway Community College Th evening.
The June eight-22 festival, like those before it, promises a diverse mix of dance, theater, circus and music events, most of them free, and backed intellectually by Ideas sessions touting mindfulness and positive social change. Only with the help of individual contributors, said officials, the festival has restored some events that were trimmed the by two years — to two full weeks on the Green, three weekends of events and five gratuitous Greenish concerts.
"Even if y'all look at the concerts during the week, they're much bigger than what we've traditionally been doing at night, said Republic of chad Herzog, co-executive director of the festival and director of programming. Herzog said this year's slate "features what is arguably the near diverse group of artists and thinkers nosotros've hosted in a single yr."
